It is with great joy and happiness that I welcome you to the opening of the College Website
http://www.ossceila.com It is pertinent to say that, to day, 11th June, 2007,marks a new
epoch in the history of this college .It is significant in the sense that, the College is
joining the whole world, in keeping pace with the advancement of Information and Communication
Technology (ICT), in the teaching and learning processes, within the education sector.
The Oyo (now Osun) State college of Education, ila Orangun was established as a campus of
Oyo (now Osun ) State College of Education ,ilesa in 1979.The College started on the
campus of the defunct Ila Progessive Commercial College with 150 students and five staff
members.
Ever since, the College has been moving forward in training and producing well-informed,
matured and responsible middle level man-power in the teaching of both staff and students
of the institution, and that is the fulfillment of Information Communication Technology
Challenges (ICT).
The advent of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) has made a profound impact on
men and women in the world. Information Technology (IT) is the study of the collection,
retrieval, use, storage and communication of information using computers and microelectronics
systems. Communication Technology is of various forms and it has developed from telegraphy in
the mid-19th century to radio communication at the end of 19th century, television in the mid-20th
century and later, communication Satellite in the 21st century. Another form of communication technology
(telecommunication) is the technology which is involved in the sending of information
(such as digital signals,sounds,printed words or images) over a distance through telegraph, telephone
and radio via the medium of wires or electromagnetic (radio) waves or a combination of the
two tagged internet.
The Internet is a global Network of computer that connects independent networks containing information of any
kind that can be accessed and retrieved by users all over the world. Computers linked to
the Internet can make use of the following internet services: e-mail, Telnet file transfer
protocol, and video-conferencing.

The College now has a functional official website www.ossceila.com. What do staff and students of this institution stand to gain by visiting this website?
- Online registration by all students - Where students do their registration on the website.
- Online Admission - students apply on Net and the admission confirmed after a given time.
- Online Payment or fees where the details of students payment will be on the school portal.
- Every student will have his/her own personal data, where parents can check students particulars without necessarily visiting the school.
- Staff can browse for information in their offices at their convenience with their laptop or PC.
- The Use of electronic Library.
- Opportunities for Scholarship and support groups for students who are self sponsored.
- Administratively, we can summon meetings without necessarily distributing circular among the members involved.
- Also Computers can be used for record keeping and for result computation.
Hitherto, I want to thank God, for making our network systems a reality in Osun State College of Education, Ila-Oragun. We have now joined the world in the area of information Communication and no more in "darkness".
Permit me to use this medium to thank System Derivatives Nigeria Limited for extending this great opportunity to the College. It is my prayer that the Company will move from strength to strength.
Finally, I want to congratulate the College Management, all staff and students of the College for the opportunity they have to witness the fulfillment of the long waited
dream of having a functional website in the college. It is my prayer that the Almighty God will spare our lives to witness more glorious events in the College.
